Sparks
How Sparks work
Sparks are optional. Recording, streaming, co-hosting, chat and clips are free for everyone.
Sparks support streamers and EveryCord. Streamers get half of what EveryCord receives from Apple for the Sparks they're sent. The other half keeps EveryCord running, including its servers. For example, when 1,100 Sparks bought for $9.99 in the US are sent, the streamer gets $4.24. Sparks you don't send earn nothing, and streamers can request payouts only in the US for now.
Common questions
What are Sparks?
Sparks are optional in-app purchases you can send in live streams to support the streamer. When you send Sparks, your message is highlighted in chat, and bigger amounts can stay pinned at the top for a while. Pins take turns in the order they're sent.
Is EveryCord free?
Recording, streaming, co-hosting, chat and clips are free for everyone. Sparks are optional in-app purchases, and supporter styles come from sending them.
Where does the money go?
Sparks support streamers and EveryCord. Streamers get half of what EveryCord receives from Apple for the Sparks they're sent. The other half keeps EveryCord running, including its servers. For example, when 1,100 Sparks bought for $9.99 in the US are sent, the streamer gets $4.24. Sparks you don't send earn nothing, and streamers can request payouts only in the US for now. What EveryCord receives from Apple is the price you paid minus Apple's fee and any taxes Apple collects, so it depends on the pack and the country where the Sparks were bought. Amounts in other currencies are converted to US dollars at a reference exchange rate that EveryCord updates regularly. EveryCord pays Stripe's payout fees from its half.
How do I get Sparks?
In the EveryCord app on iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Vision Pro: open Settings, then Sparks, then Get Sparks, or tap the Sparks button in a live stream. Purchases go through your Apple Account. Sparks aren't sold anywhere else.
How do I send Sparks?
In a live stream, tap the Sparks button next to the reactions, choose an amount, add a message if you like, and tap Send. The send screen shows roughly what those Sparks cost you, based on what you paid. You can send Sparks from the apps and from EveryCord on the web.
Do Sparks expire?
No. Sparks stay in your account until you send them.
Can I get a refund?
Apple decides refunds. In Sparks, open Purchase History and tap Request a Refund, or go to reportaproblem.apple.com. If Apple refunds a purchase, unspent Sparks from it are removed. Sparks you already sent from it stay sent, but they no longer count toward your supporter level, and the streamer's earnings from them are removed. In Settings, then Sparks, you choose whether EveryCord tells Apple how you used a purchase when you ask for a refund.
What are supporter levels?
Your level grows with the Sparks you send: Supporter, then Bronze at 500, Silver at 2,500 and Gold at 10,000. Levels give style perks like badges, name colors, frames and supporter reactions. They never unlock features. Your badge shows only if you turn on Show supporter badge. Others can then see your level, which shows a range of how much you've sent. You can hide your badge at any time, also on messages you sent before.
Who can receive Sparks?
Streamers 18 and older who agree to the Creator Payout Terms and turn on Accept Sparks in my live streams. Receiving Sparks isn't available to anyone under 18.
Why can't I send Sparks to a stream?
The streamer may not accept Sparks or may have turned them off, chat may be limited (followers only, slow mode or off), you may be blocked, banned or timed out in that channel, or you may have reached a sending limit. You also can't send Sparks to your own stream or to an account linked to yours.
Can streamers run raffles or fundraisers with Sparks?
No. Raffles, giveaways, contests, wagers and anything based on chance aren't allowed with Sparks, and Sparks can't be presented as charity or fundraising. Please report a stream that does this.
How do streamers earn from Sparks?
Streamers 18 and older get half of what EveryCord receives from Apple for the Sparks they're sent. For example, when 1,100 Sparks bought for $9.99 in the US are sent, the streamer gets $4.24. Earnings are usually held for 30 days so most refunds can settle, and up to 90 days for new creators or for Sparks from new or recently refunded buyers; refunds after that are deducted from future earnings. Payouts start at $50 and are available only in the United States for now, through our payments partner, Stripe, which verifies your identity, collects tax details and pays your bank.
Where do I request a payout?
In Settings, then Sparks, then Earnings, on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro or the web.
What happens if a purchase is refunded after I received Sparks?
The earnings from those Sparks are removed. If they were already available or paid out, the amount comes out of your future earnings, and you can't request a payout until it's covered.
Why is my payout on hold or not approved?
The Earnings screen shows the reason and a note. Tap Reply in Live Support to ask a question or appeal.
Do I pay taxes on earnings?
You're responsible for taxes on what you earn. Stripe collects your tax information during setup, and creators in the United States may receive a Form 1099 from EveryCord through Stripe. You can download a yearly statement on the Earnings screen.
What happens to my Sparks and earnings if I delete my account?
Your Sparks are removed. If payouts are set up, EveryCord sends your earnings as final payouts after review, with no minimum. If they aren't, set them up before deleting; otherwise EveryCord keeps a record of your earnings and handles them as the law requires for unclaimed money.
Can I turn off Sparks for my streams?
Yes. Turn off Accept Sparks in my live streams in Settings, then Sparks, or turn off Sparks in a stream's chat settings.
Who do I contact?
Live Support in the app, or services@symaro.com.
