EveryCord vs the Twitch app: streaming from an iPhone

Both are free. The official Twitch app lets you go live from an iPhone with your camera (Stream IRL) or your screen for mobile games (Stream Games), to Twitch only, with no overlays and not camera and screen at once. EveryCord streams your iPhone or iPad screen to Twitch and up to two more outputs at the same time, such as YouTube and Kick, with an optional camera window. Twitch facts are from help.twitch.tv and the App Store as read on October 21, 2026.

What the Twitch app offers

The Twitch app, listed as Twitch: Live Streaming, is free on the App Store with in-app purchases for Bits and Sub Tokens, and requires iOS 16.4 or later. Tap the plus button, choose Stream, then Stream IRL for your camera or Stream Games for your screen. No stream key is needed.

Twitch's Mobile Game Broadcasting page says everything on the screen is captured, including notifications, and that quality is set automatically from your network. On iOS you add a title and category, tap the red record button, then switch to your game. If the device locks, the stream ends.

Two limits are stated on the same page: you cannot broadcast from the camera and capture the screen at the same time, and overlays are not supported when broadcasting from mobile. Chat can reach you on iOS as push notifications while you stream.

What EveryCord does differently

EveryCord is a free screen recorder and live streaming app for iPhone and iPad (iOS 15 or later) with no subscription or paid upgrade. You sign in to Twitch inside EveryCord, pick EveryCord in Apple's screen recording controls and confirm Start Broadcast. The stream goes straight from the device, up to 720p at 30 fps per output.

The difference is what else goes out at the same time. EveryCord can send the same screen to up to three outputs, each from the phone: Twitch plus YouTube, Kick, Facebook Live, X or any RTMP or RTMPS server. If one output drops, the others keep running. No restreaming service is involved.

With a free EveryCord account you can show your camera in a small floating window while you stream (iOS 18 or later) and invite up to three friends to appear as camera bubbles from their own iPhones. EveryCord also records, edits and captions videos.

Twitch's simulcasting rules

Streaming to Twitch and other services at the same time is allowed. Twitch's Simulcasting Guidelines FAQ says the guidelines apply to all streamers unless they have an agreement with Twitch that requires exclusivity, and that Twitch sends a warning before any enforcement action.

The rules in short: the Twitch experience must not be degraded, for example by streaming in worse video quality on Twitch than elsewhere. You may list other platforms in your bio or panels, but you may not use Twitch to push viewers to a concurrent stream elsewhere through banners, titles, QR codes, chat commands or go-live notifications.

Tools that combine chat from several platforms for your personal use are fine, the FAQ says.

Where the Twitch app may suit you better

  • You only stream to Twitch and want the fewest steps: one app, no stream key, a plus button.
  • You stream IRL with your camera and want Twitch's own setup, including chat push notifications while live.
  • You want Twitch's Creator Dashboard, Stream Manager and Stories in the same app.
  • You do not need a second output, a camera over the game or co-hosts.

Where EveryCord may suit you better

  • You want Twitch plus YouTube, Kick or another RTMP output at the same time, sent from the phone.
  • You want your camera over the game while you stream, which Twitch's help says the Twitch app cannot do.
  • You want up to three friends on camera as co-hosts, each from their own iPhone.
  • You also record, trim and caption videos and want one free app with no watermark or time limit.

Questions and answers

Is EveryCord a free alternative to the Twitch app for streaming from an iPhone?

Yes, for screen streaming. Both are free. The Twitch app streams to Twitch only; EveryCord streams the same screen to Twitch and up to two more outputs, and adds a camera window and co-hosts.

Can you stream mobile games from the Twitch app on iPhone in 2026?

Yes. Twitch's Mobile Game Broadcasting page, read on October 21, 2026, describes Stream Games on iOS: tap the plus button, choose Stream, pick Stream Games, add a title and category, then tap the red record button.

Does Twitch allow multistreaming?

Yes. Twitch's Simulcasting Guidelines FAQ allows it for all streamers without an exclusivity agreement, as long as the Twitch stream is not degraded and you do not use Twitch to send viewers to a concurrent stream elsewhere.

Do I need a Twitch stream key for EveryCord?

No. EveryCord asks you to sign in to Twitch. A key only matters for an RTMP app or encoder; Twitch's Stream Key FAQ says it is in the Creator Dashboard under the Settings icon, then Stream.
