What Loom's iPhone app does

Loom: Screen Recorder is a free download from Loom, Inc and requires iOS 18.5 or later on an iPhone or iPad. Its App Store listing says it records your screen, camera, microphone and internal audio, saves videos to the cloud and shares them instantly with a link.

Screen recording runs through Apple's Screen Broadcast control. Loom's help center says to choose Screen, select Screen Broadcast and tap Start Broadcast; a red bar shows the recording is running. The same page says it is not possible to record the screen and camera at the same time, which Loom calls an Apple iOS limitation.

The Starter plan is free: up to 25 videos per person, 5 minutes per video and quality up to 720p. Business, at $18 per user per month, adds unlimited videos, unlimited recording time, recording up to 4K, downloads and removal of Loom branding. Business + AI is $24 and adds auto titles, summaries and chapters.

Where Loom may suit you better

  • You make short work videos for a team and want a shared library, viewer insights and comments in one workspace.
  • Your company already pays for Loom, so the 25 video and 5 minute limits do not apply to you.
  • You want transcriptions in 50 or more languages, or the Business + AI automatic titles, summaries and chapters.
  • You record on a computer as well as on your phone and want everything in the same Loom library.

Where EveryCord may suit you better

  • You want to record for as long as you like, as often as you like, without a 25 video cap or a paid plan. Recording on EveryCord is free with no time limit.
  • You do not want branding on the video. EveryCord adds no watermark to recordings, live streams or edited videos.
  • You want to live stream the same screen to YouTube, Twitch or an RTMP server, up to three outputs at once, straight from the iPhone or iPad.
  • You want to add your camera and voice to a saved recording with Facecam, or trim, crop, add music and text in the editor, then export at original size, 1080p or 720p.
  • You want recordings to stay on your device unless you choose to share them.

How to record and share a clip with EveryCord

  1. Open EveryCord on an iPhone or iPad with iOS 15 or later and choose app audio, microphone or both. No account is needed to record.
  2. Open Apple's screen recording controls, pick EveryCord and confirm Start Broadcast.
  3. Do what you want to record, then stop the recording from the status bar or Control Center. The video is saved on the device.
  4. Trim the recording in the editor, add Facecam if you want your camera and voice on it, and turn on automatic English captions if you want them.
  5. Share the video from your device, or share it as a clip on EveryCord Social with a free account, where anyone can open the link in a web browser.
