Best free multistreaming apps and services for iPhone

From an iPhone you can multistream two ways. Device-side apps such as EveryCord (three outputs, free, no watermark) and Larix Broadcaster (multiple outputs with Premium) send a separate stream to each platform, so upload need grows with each output. Cloud services such as Restream, Castr, OneStream Live, Streamlabs Ultra and PRISM Plus take one upload and fan it out, usually for a price or with branding. Device-side or cloud: what it means for your upload

A device-side app encodes one stream per destination on the phone and sends each itself. If one output drops the others keep running, but each output needs its own upload. EveryCord uses about 3 Mbps per output, so three outputs need about 9 Mbps.

A cloud service takes one stream from the phone and copies it to every platform on its servers, so upload stays at one stream, but it usually charges or adds branding beyond a free tier.

Each option in detail

EveryCord streams to YouTube and Twitch with sign-in and to any RTMP or RTMPS server on up to three outputs at once, each sent from the device, and captures the iPhone or iPad screen with Apple's screen recording controls. Free, no watermark, no time limit.

Streamlabs Mobile is free on iOS 14 or later and streams mobile games by adding the game as a source. Its page lists multiple destinations as an Ultra feature, from $15.75 a month, or as a reward earned by streaming.

PRISM Live Studio's free Basic tier streams to one channel with ads, a watermark and an outro. PRISM Plus, $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, allows six channels. The App Store listing says simulcasting sends to several platforms without extra network usage.

Restream is a cloud service: free with 2 channels and Restream branding, Standard at $19 a month for 3, Professional at $49 for 5. Its help center says Restream Studio works in Safari on an iPhone without screen sharing, and any RTMP app can send to it.

Castr is a cloud service with RTMP ingest on every plan and no free plan on its pricing page. Starter is $19.99 a month for 6 destinations with a seven-day trial; Standard is $49.99 for 10.

OneStream Live is a cloud service: free with 2 destinations at 720p, Basic $15 a month for 5, Standard $39 for 10, Professional $49 for 30. Its iOS app goes live from the camera and the listing says you can share your screen; in-app, Basic is $19.99 a month.

Larix Broadcaster encodes on the phone, one connection per destination. Softvelum's page calls multiple connections premium for 3 or more; the App Store listing puts multiple simultaneous outputs under Premium, $9.99 a month or $119 a year. Screen streaming needs Larix Screencaster, free for 5 minutes per stream.

Where other services may suit you better

  • Your upload is limited: a cloud service takes one stream and sends it everywhere, while EveryCord needs about 3 Mbps for each output.
  • You need more than three destinations: PRISM Plus and Castr Starter list six, OneStream Live Professional lists 30.
  • You want a browser studio with overlays, guests and scheduled streams, or you also stream from a computer with OBS; Restream, Castr and OneStream Live accept OBS over RTMP.

Where EveryCord may suit you better

  • You want three outputs free with no branding, and no account for RTMP outputs.
  • You stream the iPhone or iPad screen with app audio, microphone or both through Apple's recording controls.
  • You want each output independent, with no relay in the path, plus co-hosts, chat moderation and clips in the same free app.

Questions and answers

Which free multistreaming app for iPhone should I use?

If three destinations are enough and your upload can carry about 3 Mbps each, EveryCord does it free from the device with no branding. If upload is tight, Restream and OneStream Live each list 2 free destinations, Restream with its branding.

Does multistreaming from an iPhone use more upload bandwidth?

With a device-side app, yes: each output is its own stream, about 3 Mbps each in EveryCord. With a cloud service the phone sends one stream and the service copies it.

Can Restream stream from an iPhone?

Restream's help center says you can use Restream Studio in Safari on an iPhone, but screen sharing is not supported in a mobile browser. Any RTMP app can send to Restream instead.

Is Larix Broadcaster multistreaming free?

Softvelum's page marks multiple simultaneous connections as a premium feature for 3 or more connections. The App Store listing puts multiple simultaneous outputs under Larix Premium, $9.99 a month or $119 a year.
